Dear Kathryn,
It was great speaking with you at the SES conference this past weekend. In case you are interested, here is some important information you may or may not already be aware of.
Gov. Tim Walz and the Democratically-controlled state House and Senate of MN repealed the “Born Alive Infants Protection Act” in 2023, along with all other state restrictions on abortion (eg, parental notification). The Born Alive Infants Protection Act stated that “a born-alive infant as a result of an abortion shall be fully recognized as a human person, and accorded immediate protection under the law.” Additionally, the act required that “all reasonable measures consistent with good medical practice, including the compilation of appropriate medical records, shall be taken by the responsible medical personnel to preserve the life and health of the born alive infant.”
To my knowledge, there are at least NINE reported cases of a born-alive baby in MN being allowed to die after a failed abortion.
Harris/Walz don’t want to reinstate Roe v Wade, which restricted abortions to the first trimester, except in extreme cases. Rather, they want to permit abortion on demand throughout all 3 trimesters of pregnancy and beyond. Regardless of your feelings on “a woman’s right to choose,” this is infanticide. When did we become a culture of death where the right to life no longer matters?
Regards,
Kathi H
